Climbing Big Mountains
There are strong similarities between running a business, setting some personal objectives and trying to summit big mountain peaks. In all three you start with a clear goal or ambition: to reach the top…sometimes you can see it from where you are standing, other times you need to imagine it outside of your field of vision. All three will have tough moments, that time when you just want to sit down, stop and not get up.
In the climbing world there is a quote “the summit never comes to you” that beautifully encapsulates a core learning in life. As individuals we are blessed with amazing power, we have an infinite reservoir to draw on and the only constraints we have are those we impose on ourselves.
As a mountaineer, Richard has summited peaks in some of the biggest and most challenging mountain ranges; Mont Blanc, Mont Moduit, Aquille de Tour, Cosmique Arete in the French Alps, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Mera Peak and Baruntse in the Himalaya, Cotapaxi in Ecuador.
